Human, animal, and environmental health: it’s all connected !

On April 7, 2026, France will host the One Health Summit in Lyon to strengthen international cooperation in the face of health, food, and environmental risks.

The One Health approach aims to better account for the close links between humans, animals, plants, and ecosystems in order to sustainably improve global health.

The One Health Summit will bring together, for the first time, heads of state and government from around the world, representatives of relevant international and regional organizations, members of parliament, scientists, and representatives from the private sector, the general public, local governments, development banks, and youth organizations to accelerate the implementation of the One Health approach.

Lyon 1 University will be well represented; Discover the highlights proposed by our University for the One Health Festival !

Following a short lecture by Frédéric Le Marcis, an anthropologist at ENS Lyon specializing in infectious disease risk management in Africa, you’ll get a sneak peek at the very first DeepTech innovation system from solarCeram, which provides off-grid hospitals with the energy needed to sterilize surgical instruments using photovoltaic panels—without batteries or inverters!

Lyon 1 University will participate in the One Health Discovery Village in Parc de la Tête d’Or, the official One Health Summit General Public event.

EID@Lyon Graduate School, in collaboration with UNITEID Graduate School (Toulouse) and the Lyon Microbial Ecology Laboratory (LEM), will propose games and activities centered on the presence of tiger mosquitoes in urban areas: observation, hands-on activities, scientific “fishing” of mosquito larvae… You’ll also get a sneak peek at the Mosquit’EAU game, created by students from UNITEID and EID@Lyon and designed to raise awareness about effective mosquito control measures.

In addition to the fifteen other booths in the Village, come enjoy the walking conference led by Fabrice Vavre (LBBE & Shape-Med)—a stroll through the park for a different outlook on its natural biodiversity, in order to better understand the connection between city and nature and discover the One Health approach, linking human, animal, and environmental health.
