The Erasmus+ MACHINA project receives the "BONNE PRATIQUE" label from the Erasmus+ France Agency

The "MACHINA" project, a strategic partnership funded under the Erasmus+ programme, coordinated by Prof. Parisa Ghodous of the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and ending in December 2022, has been awarded the " BONNE PRATIQUE " label by the National Agency Erasmus+ France for the high quality of its implementation and results.

Machine Learning is a sub-theme of artificial intelligence that has led to a series of important technologies (automatic translation systems, medical image analysis, virtual assistants). It is profoundly transforming "traditional" business models and processes in all sectors, optimising the processing of massive volumes of data and automating essential tasks. The rapid expansion of ML uses, especially in data-driven industries (financial services, healthcare, retail), is rapidly increasing the demand for skilled ICT workers (Information and Communications Technology) in the EU.

As the demand for ICT skills continues to grow, employers are facing a shortage of suitable candidates, resulting in thousands of job vacancies (estimated at 769,000) and threatening productivity, efficiency and future growth. In addition to the rapid increase in demand, this inadequacy of workforce training can also be attributed to the slow and fragmented responsiveness of training organisations to new developments in the labour market, particularly where these are at the cutting edge of technology.

The main objective of the MACHINA project was therefore to reduce a skills gap in machine learning, by increasing the relevance of the initial and continuing professional training offer.

The five partner organisations have thus created a joint training programme that aims to equip ICT workers with technical and non-technical skills in machine learning. All the training material is available in VOOC MACHINA, an online training course, available in five languages (English, French, German, Italian, Greek, Romanian), totally free of charge and accessible to all ICT professionals who need to improve their skills, knowledge and competences in machine learning methods and practical applications.
